This time of year is a favourite for many, not least the energy companies who rub their hands together in glee at all the sparkling Christmas lights we so adore. Greenwich was one of the few areas in London that took a more interactive approach to their Christmas events when they arranged a Christmas lantern parade with scores of local school children who made their own lanterns. The procession wound its way to the market where the Christmas lights were switched on with appearances from TV celebrities and local panto characters. This was one o the more heart warming celebrations which took its theme more from local involvement rather than commercial interests.

With all the different displays glittering and shimmering in the night sky it certainly does make London look like a glittering wonderland and despite their obvious intentions to attract shoppers they definitely are awe inspiring and beautiful to see.
